Where are you off to this summer? Well personally I can’t afford a holiday this year, but with this new trend any of us can pretend we’re out walking through a mountain range or in the middle of the Sahara.
This trend caught my eye when a few months back now Black Milk added the ‘Middle Earth’ section to their website, as a big Lord of the Rings/Hobbit fan this pleased me very much. One of my favourite items in the series was undoubtedly the Middle Earth Map leggings. They are stocked in both silver and gold and I think they are beautiful. Black Milk have also introduced many other unique patterns and designs and if you haven’t seen them (where have you been?!) get on over to the website pronto.
Topshop have a beautiful range including the map print blouse and the tunic dress, both including similar maps of the same colour palette. Topshop also have a map bandeau which presents a more summery and up lifting design, ideal for this years holiday and festival season.
One of my favourite things about this discovery trend is the colour scheme. The use of warm and bronzing colours with the monochrome whites and blacks work great and can easily be accessorised. The idea of the vintage map is what designers have used, ignoring the modern day blues and greens and sticking to the warmth of the desert style tones.
To accessorise this style is easy, firstly with such a dynamic colour range you can explore shades to blend in or stand out. There’s no need to keep safe with khakis and browns, why not step out of the suitcase and try some white nails and morange lips. I have also included on the image options for footwear, you would stay with the gladiator sandal or you could step it up a bit and add a heel.
So there’s no need for satnav this summer ladies, grab a map and have some great adventures this summer!!
